2016 Leaf Series Chardonnay
We experienced a near perfect growing season with a cool, even start, with uninterrupted flowering and fruit set. A steady warm summer, with no major rain events or heat spikes, made for excellent ripening conditions.
Two parcels of fruit, one Dijon & the other Gingin clone, were harvested early morning over a two week period to achieve uniform ripening & maximum flavour accumulation. Fermented in new & 1 year old French oak and 100% malolactic conversion.
Lemon sherbert, nectarine and custard apple on the nose with toasty oak precede a palate of stone fruit and honey dew melon with a succulent mouth feel full of bright fresh flavours finishing with a burst of grapefruit that adds line and length.
The creamy complexity of this wine can handle many different flavours, try it with roast poultry or baked seafood.
