2019 Leaf Series Chardonnay
2019 can be considered as a challenging and labour intensive year. Cooler than average temperatures during spring and summer, coupled with reduced solar exposure and an increase in afternoon humidity during ripening made canopy management critical to prevent disease and optimise sun exposure. A great year however for aromatic whites.
Select parcels of premium Chardonnay fruit is sourced from our partner growers in Wilyabrup – the heart of the Margaret River growing region.
This fruit is then crushed fermented and aged in both new and used French oak barriques for a period of 12 months.
After this time barrel selection takes place and the “reserve” chardonnay is assembled together before bottling.
Yet again the winery team have crafted an exceptional Chardonnay. The nose is intense with tropical and citrus fruits jumping from the glass.
There is subtle hints of oak spice and toasty notes. The palate is lean and precise with plenty of fruit and well integrated oak compexity.
This wine can be enjoyed both with or without food. But for best results enjoy with soft cheeses, chicken or seafood.
